Daidre Burgess is a Principal and registered patent attorney at Patterson Thuente IP. Daidre’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution for both domestic and international clients in the chemical, biotech and mechanical technology areas. Daidre is experienced in handling robust intellectual property portfolios for established large companies, as well as crafting and expanding portfolios for smaller start-up companies and individuals.

Beyond patent preparation and prosecution, she has experience with freedom-to-operate, product clearance, infringement, invalidity and competitor landscape analyses. She also has experience with accelerated patent examination, patentability opinions and overall intellectual property portfolio management. Clients value Daidre’s appreciation for the business aspects of a project and her dedication to client service.

Prior to pursuing a career in law, Daidre worked at 3M’s Abrasive Systems division. During her time with 3M, she served first as a technical aide, performing testing and data analysis, and later as an advanced product development engineer for the Coated Abrasives Lab. She was a Green Belt for Six Sigma operations and led numerous cross-functional development teams focused on new product development, process improvement, and test method development. Daidre has the valuable ability to put herself in her clients’ shoes having been in industry herself; Daidre is the co inventor on two issues U.S. patents — US6758734 and US6846232 — that she obtained while working at 3M.
