Read about some of our IP litigation successes

  • Represented a foreign manufacturer of large lifting equipment. Our contributions led not only to a favorable summary judgment ruling on the question of patent infringement, but to a domino effect resulting in resolution of claims that had been brought against the client’s customer.
  • Defended a client in patent infringement action covering lighting technology; assisted in obtaining stay of the case pending reexamination before the USPTO after successfully transferring case from New Jersey federal court to Minnesota. Case was dismissed without any damages paid by the client.
  • Jeff Ali was lead trial counsel representing the world’s largest generic drug company in a patent infringement dispute relating to marketing of a generic Alzheimer’s drug. He conducted a long cross-examination at trial which “drew blood on almost every point;” The plaintiff’s witness “often obfuscated or gave rambling responses rather than answering questions directly,” according to analysis of the trial by a third-party source. Jeff’s cross-examination led to a decision by the Chief Judge favorable to his client.
  • Defended a manufacturer of scratch-resistant polymer coatings for eyeglass lenses in a patent infringement suit. Nick Kuhlmann delivered a 4-hour oral argument at a dispositive motion hearing, which led to negotiation of a favorable settlement.
  • Represented a large, Minnesota-based mulch manufacturer in pursuit of trade secret and trademark infringement claims against a competitor. Following discovery, expert witness preparation and dispositive motion practice, the dispute was settled.
